He Hates My Natural Hair - Reader Letter

Dear Shanice,

I know that you stated that you are a natural girl. I have been natural for about 2 years now and this guy I have been seeing hates it. When we first met I wore weaves and braids because I wanted to protect my hair so it would grow healthy. I told him before we got serious that I was natural and showed him a photo of me without my weave. He had no problem. Now that my hair is longer, I don't wear weaves much or braids. He always hints at other girls weaves, asking me if he bought it would I wear it, even schedule an appointment for me to get some installed. I'm to the point where I cannot deal with it anymore. I expressed my feeling to him about it and he hasn't said much about it since but I can tell how he looks at me when I'm ready to go out that he doesn't like it. Any advice on this matter?
- Vicki

Hey Vicki girl! Well I say just get a weave and call it a day. NOT! Listen, my hunny doesn't care if I am natural or relaxed, as long as it's presentable. I think you have to take in to consideration that many black people don't like "tight kinky" natural hair. When they hear natural they think of Traci Ellis Ross. UUUUMMM no sir! No one told you that's what my hair was going to look like. My advice, move on. There are MANY men out here ( esp. white men, #heyya'll ) that will accept you with a weave or your natural hair state. Don't feel pressured into getting a perm. I'm not a natural go go power ranger so I could care less if you had relaxed hair or not, but don't let him change your mind. What if he stops liking you in the color black? You gone stop wearing it? No, you are not. So tell him, hey this is what it is. If you want someone with long flowing hair ..... get an instagram and get it popping. BUT if you want to be with me then know, this Samuel Jackson twist out is going to be apart of your life! Maybe show him YouTube videos so he can see what it will look like in a year. Girl hell idk, I would've kicked his ass to the curb when he schedule me an appointment at the $50 weave shop. Like WHET? That is SO dang rude! Welp, keep those edges strong boo!

xoxoxo

If It Were You, Would You Be Proud

I don't really know how to start this post, but ya'll rock with me so just let me have a moment. I love to blog but I am having time management issues with everything going on in my life. It doesn't make me money so it kind of goes on the back burner even though I love to do it. My small home town had a double homicide yesterday. I'm not listing names or locations because I respect the privacy of everyone in that situation. With a sad heart, my mind began to race with thoughts of "if this happened to me, have I lived the life I wanted?" Because it can happened to any of us. I live in Stone Mountain, GA and although my block is very quiet, little to no children on the block, just a few weeks ago my husband and I came home to a road full with police, fire department trucks, ambulance vans and cars everywhere. We still don't know what happened down there. I work for myself. My husband and I started a few businesses together and each of them has there se

He couldn't be me. STARVE THEN BIH! Listen .... follow me umkay? 1. NONE OF YA'LL (me included) makes enough money to eat at a restaurant everyday where the food is that damn bomb! I'm a ME kind of Mommy

I am a me type of Mommy. I pumped, breastfeed and formula feed my child. I pumped enough to store for future and my husband would feed him formula bottles when I was tapped out sleep. I am a vaccine mom. I say a little prayer before my son gets his shots each time and I watch him like a hawk afterwards. TO ME it is worth it. I am a cry it out mom. Yeah it sucks sometimes but it's worked out in MY favor. He gives me a smooth hour playing in his play pen with no interruptions to do whatever it is I need to do around the house.  I am a cosleep and baby bed mom. Sometimes I just don't feel like getting out of my bed for night feedings so he sleeps in bed with us. Other nights I need some "adult time" and I kick his little ass out. LOL. I am a "his first pair of real shoes are white hard bottoms". I am a when the doctor says he can start eating food he ate everything! Fruits and veggies first and later meats.  I am a google mom. I will google the shit out
